Meet the Author, Roy Mapleton
Practically everyone I interact with regularly would describe me as a result-oriented strategist. I focus on continuous improvement and staying ahead of the game by honing my skills. This attitude has helped me study not only engineering but also body language, lie detection, sales, marketing, and even economics.
Another ability I possess is that of breaking things down to their simplest components, to be able to achieve consistent and predictable results. When something works, you’ll know why; when it doesn’t, you’ll know why not and what you can do to rectify the situation.
Smart people learn through their mistakes; the wise ones learn from others’ mistakes as well.
When I started my first job search in 2006, I would struggle with the lack of guidance and the right approach. I didn’t know where to start and how to create a compelling resume. The first step was to recognize that there was a problem, and that problem was me. I had to change my approach and take corrective action to be a winning candidate. Because although I had strong technical fundamentals in my field, I couldn’t get past the door.
Fast forward to today: I’ve been in the high tech industry for the last 12 years, and in a leadership role for about four years now. I also run a business on the side, consulting with companies to improve their efficiency and product reliability through LEAN and Six Sigma methodology.
This book is a result of my study of behavioral psychology, combined with my interview experience, minus all those strategies that don’t work. I intend for you to be able to immediately find practical tips on maximizing your job search or candidate search, without having to reinvent the wheel.
